Projects

  • Evaluating the Range and Severity of Impacts Across the US Northeastern Seaboard of a Decline in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) — with University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute and CO2 Foundation.

  • Contribution of new nuclear energy to climate change mitigation

  • Bring together salt marsh ecologists, climate change scientists, non-profits, state agencies responsible for transportation, environment and coastal management & local government

    • to design interventions to increase the resiliency of road infrastructure and

    • support the adaptation of critical salt marsh habitat to rapid sea level rise, severe storm events, and increased flooding.

  • Research on public access to regulatory rule-making and processes in the electricity sector and the implications for climate change.

  • Participation in an international advocacy network for incorporation of environmental and equity concerns employed by export and trade finance institutions.

Partners

CSI is pleased to announce our 2026-2027 grant from the CO2 Foundation for work on assessing the impact of a decline in the AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation) along the U.S. Northeastern Seaboard.  We will partner with the University of Maine’s Climate Change Institute (CCI)  to identify how a deceleration of AMOC could affect regional climate from Maine to Virginia, using state-of-the-art climate simulations. CSI will analyze the impact to key sectors, including energy, water resources, coastal infrastructure and national security planning.  Through graphic explainers, we hope to help planners, decisionmakers and advocates understand the potential impact of severe or catastrophic climate change on key infrastructure to inform future planning.
